Makati City Mayor Abby Binay congratulated the Ospital ng Makati (OsMak) for receiving ISO certification anew for its top-notch medical services to the public amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

According to Binay, the hospital passed the surveillance audit of the Societe Generale de Surveillance (SGS) conducted on Feb. 1 and 2 for its ISO Quality Management System 9001:2015 certification, which verifies if the hospital processes conform with the standard of the said system.

ISO 9001:2015 is defined as the international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system (QMS) used by organizations as the standard to demonstrate the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements. It was first published in 1987 by the ISO, an international agency composed of the national standards bodies of more than 160 countries.

Binay added that OsMak was first given its first ISO 9001:2015 Certification for Quality Management System in 2019, wherein it is always renewed every three years.

It then received its second ISO 9001:2015 Certification for Quality Management System in March of last year.

OsMak also achieved a historic feat in the field of medicine in April after being granted a five-year accreditation from the Philippine Board of Emergency Medicine (PBEM) making it the first government hospital-based emergency medicine training program to ever receive a five-year accreditation.

According to the city government, OsMak’s Department of Emergency Prehospital, Disaster, and Ambulatory Care Medicine, which trains Emergency Medical physicians, was given a five-year accreditation instead of the usual three for having consistently complied with the board’s requirements.

The hospital was also recognized by the Department of Health (DOH) for ranking the highest among all public hospitals in Metro Manila for Covid-19 response and management in August.

OsMak has achieved a score of 97/100 in the inspection and validation report conducted by the Health Facility Development and Enhancement Unit (HFDEU) of the Metro Manila Center for Health Development (MMCHD) under the Department of Health (DOH).

The report covers all local government and DOH health facilities in Metro Manila.

According to HFDEU, OsMak has rated 19/20 for Governance; 19/20 for Ethics and Patient’s Rights; 15/15 Quality Measurement and Improvement; 20/20 for Patient Safety; 9/10 for Facility Safety and Emergency Management; 15/15 for Resource Management.

It added that they have assessed OsMak’s compliance with infection prevention and control (IPC) standards and protocols with regard to the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as with the Integrated Hospital Operations Management Program (IHOMP).

The program’s target is to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare services through the creation and use of information for clinical, administrative, and monitoring purposes in hospitals and other health facilities.
