Photo of the Week
“One of the perks of visiting my hometown is that I get to see the wonders of nature. Capturing the behavior of insects in the real world is so fascinating! This photo of lady bugs guarding their eggs was taken in Bulacan last September after several months of lockdown in Manila. ‘Itlugan’ or laying eggs or the place where they lay eggs is what I named this photo. We do not need to go far to see the beauty of nature, just learn to appreciate even ‘little’ things around you.”

“My family and I were on a trip to a beach down south of Leyte. On our way back, we were scanning some tourist spots to visit along the way and we found the Hindang Cave and wild monkeys’ park. At the top of the park is the Hindang Cave and we would see wild monkeys hanging on trees as we walked around. We saw many monkeys but I guess, this mother and child tandem piqued my interest. The mother was hugging her child as if she was protecting her child from a prey.” – Macbeth Omega

Photo of the Week
“It might be a long journey for this Indian man, perhaps a tiring day for him while waiting for the next train going home. I took this photo using my ever-reliable smartphone camera, Huawei P20 Pro, which I have with me in my pocket. This was one of the many images I captured during my trip to Kolhapur, India before the pandemic. This man got my attention while we were roaming around the station. Despite his condition, as a person with disability (PWD), he still manages to live a normal life like many of us. He has showed that life must go on and we should be filled with positivity.” – Tawpee Comeso

What’s New in Lightroom Classic Version 10?
Adobe has released their latest versions of Photoshop, Lightroom, and Camera Raw. The updates in Photoshop 2021 (Version 22 now) itself are quite amazing: the neural filters are groundbreaking, its sky replacement tool is quite amazing, it has improved its refine edge selections, and it has introduced an all-new Discover panel. All these make Photoshop 2021 feel like a brand-new version.

“It was one of those photowalks that I won’t think twice to join. A well-known photographer, friend of mine invited me to shoot in a remote place in Manila. The sunset was so beautiful on that day. The photo was taken two days before my birthday (February 1).” – Bien Bacarra Jr.

“This photo was captured at the entrance of Zheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The moment I went into this place, it immediately captured my heart due to its amazing architectural design. The ceiling looks like an ‘eye’ having its iris and pupil (as designed and built at the very entrance). Taking a straight look at the ‘prayer area’ of the mosque, it tells a story and conveys us to look into the faith of ‘Islam’ and know more. This is a design which carries a deep meaning if only you focus more into it. I am not a professional photographer, but this shot for me is one of the best photos that sends its message to the viewers on its own.”

The easy way to use that pesky Pen Tool
As it turns out, there’s an easy way to understand and use the Pen Tool in Photoshop. For years, I struggled with it and had been frustrated trying to use it, until I found the easier way to understand the pesky Pen Tool. Once I understood this, I can use the Pen Tool confidently to draw complex paths and shapes with it. If you grasp this, you will become master of the Pen tool.

“This was taken in the early summer of February 2020 in the mountainous region of Ral Al Khaimah in United Arab Emirates, one of the most humid areas in the region. As the season changed and temperature dropped around 40+ degrees, the whole mountain area was covered with misty smoke which really got my attention to bring out my Sony A7ii camera and sigma 16mm lens from my backpack and quickly took a snap of it. This was my first-ever trekking experience which led me to explore more and see how “Minimally Huge” the world it was through my lens.” – Dawn Julius Bleza
