Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) confiscated around P75 million worth of a popular footwear brand, which it said were all fake during three separate raids in Meycauayan City in Bulacan.
CIDG director Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said four Chinese were arrested during the operation conducted on three warehouses where the fake Crocs footwear were discovered. He identified them as Weibin, Zhenpan, Youding and Wang.
Torre said the first warehouse yielded around P29.7 million worth of fake footwear while around P27.7 million worth of footwear were discovered in the second warehouse. A total of P18 million worth of footwear were found in the third warehouse.
He said additional confiscated evidence include business receipts, computer sets, a CCTV DVR, and a web mill printer.
Torre said the arrested suspects were charged before the National Prosecution Service with violation of Section 155 (Trademark Infringement) in relation to Section 170 of R.A. 8293 (Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines) for the unauthorized use of a registered trademark or a confusingly similar mark in commerce, which may cause deception or confusion among consumers.
