Marikina City to suspend F2F classes during extreme heat

Marikina City Mayor Marcy Teodoro issued on Monday, March 3, an executive order automatically suspending face-to-face classes in all levels of public and private schools in the city once an extreme heat index is forecast by the weather bureau in Metro Manila.
Under Executive Order No. 5, series of 2025, face-to-face classes will automatically suspended and asynchronous classes will be implemented once the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issues an extreme heat index of 42 degrees celsius or more in the National Capital Region.
This ensures the safety and wellness of Marikeño students and prevent them from suffering from heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
The city government had earlier suspended face-to-face classes after PAGASA issued a 46 degrees celsius extreme heat index in the region.
