Truck driver, farmer gunned down

CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela â€“ A truck driver was shot and killed in Barangay Minante Dos, this city, on Saturday, Feb. 1.

Police identified the victim as Ariel Lorenzo, a resident of Barangay Villa Luna here.

Investigation said the victim was on his way home from work when a man wearing a bullcap, black jacket, and white shorts approached and shot him. Lorenzo sustained multiple bullet wounds and died on the spot.

The suspect fled onboard a motorcycle without a license plate. Recovered from the crime scene were three empty bullet shells.

Meanwhile, a 51-year-old carpenter was gunned down in Barangay Napu, Badoc, Ilocos Norte on Friday, Jan. 31.

Police said the victim, Fernando Baldugo, was eating dinner in the house of his live-in partner when a man appeared and shot him.

The suspect fled and the victim was declared dead in a hospital. Police recovered eight fired .45 caliber cartridge cases in the crime scene.

Police are pursuing the suspects and conducting follow-up investigation of both incidents.
