A video went viral showing a man, alleged to be a security guard, pointing a gun in front of a woman who was taking a video of the situation in the area. Nobody was harmed in the incident.
The video that garnered more than 10,000 shares has reached the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, prompting them to launch a thorough investigation.
Police Capt. Judesses Catalogo, spokesperson of the Negros Occidental police, said that they have identified the man in the viral video and he may be charged with multiple cases.
Catalogo said that the Talisay City Police Station, which has jurisdiction over the case, has gathered statements from the complainants and pieces of evidence to be used in the filing of cases.
He said that Police Col. Rainerio de Chavez, Negros Occidental police director, has visited the area and met the Talisay police and complainants to discuss the incident.
Part of the ongoing investigation is to determine the authority and identification of the security guards detailed in the area by a Cebu-based security agency and if the agency has secured a certification for the exemption of the gun ban from the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Catalogo said that they will also check with the Firearms and Explosives Office if their guns are licensed and coordinate with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) to verify the land titles being presented by the CLOA beneficiaries.
“From all of these, we can align the cases and our actions on the incident,” he said.
Catalogo said that they are patrolling the area to maintain peace and order.
