Thirty-six families lost their homes in a fire in Riverside Compound, Barangay Camp 6, Tuba, Benguet, on New Year’s Day.

One-hundred fifty-five individuals living in 24 houses were affected by the fire that broke out at 1 a.m.
Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong, acting chairperson of the Metropolitan Baguio-La Trinidad-Itogon-Sablan-Tuba-Tublay Development Authority, met the Tuba Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council headed by Mayor Clarita Sal-ongan to discuss assistance for the victims.
Magalong also met the affected families and they received assistance prepared by the Baguio City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
They are temporarily staying at Camp 6 Elementary School and Barangay Camp 4 multi-purpose hall.
Magalong thanked the Baguio City Fire Station, water delivery, and local disaster response teams for assisting the Tuba Fire Station.
Cause of the fire and extent of damage are still being determined.
People who wish to provide assistance to affected families may proceed to the Camp 6 Jeepney terminal and staging area in Baguio City where they will be taken to the recipients in Camp 6.
