The fatality was identified as Dane Bayot, who just graduated from senior high school at Camotes Visayan Institute.
According to Police Staff Sgt. Christopher Tura of the Poro Police Station, the victim and his friend, John Lawrence Mendoza, 21, went to the bay walk to meet their friends.
The group was supposed to discuss their next plans after graduating on Tuesday, June 4.
While waiting for their classmates, the two friends decided to take a fishnet and use it as a hammock.
Using a rope, the two friends tied one end of the fishnet to a tree while the other end was attached to a lamp post.
The two friends were seen taking selfies while on the makeshift hammock.
While the hammock was swinging, the lamp post suddenly broke. The lamp post toppled and landed on Bayot, who suffered head and body injuries.
Mendoza was also hit by the broken lamp post but was lucky to escape with just minor injuries on his foot.
Bayot was brought to the Camotes District Hospital where he died, police said.
