ZAMBOANGA CITY – An infant was reported missing and 48 persons were rescued when their boat capsized in the sea of Santa Cruz Island in Zamboanga City on Saturday afternoon, March 2.

The Zamboanga Regional Mobile Unit-9 received a call from one of the passengers that their jungkung capsized near Santa Cruz Island.
The Zamboanga City Mobile Force Company immediately launched a rescue operation and were able to rescue all 48 passengers and crew members except for the six-month-old baby.
The jungkung reportedly left Hadji Taha wharf at Baliwasan Seaside here at around 5:30 p.m. for Basilan but encountered rough seas upon reaching the area.
Rescued passengers were brought to the Zamboanga City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office.
