BCDA partners with Korean firms for smart city development in New Clark City

State-owned Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has partnered with Korean business experts to bolster its efforts in developing New Clark City into a premier investment and tourism destination in Asia.

During the Philippines-Korea Business Forum, BCDA signed three memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with Korean companies to explore collaboration in key areas of urban development.

One MOU was signed with RMS Platform to develop a smart city infrastructure, including an eGovernment digital platform. 

BCDA said this platform aims to provide a one-stop shop for citizens and locators, offering access to city information, online services, and transactions.

Another partnership was formed with the Korea Overseas Infrastructure and Urban Development Corporation (KIND) to study the development of affordable housing in New Clark City. 

BCDA said the collaboration will focus on creating cost-effective and sustainable housing solutions that meet the needs of Filipino families.

In addition, BCDA partnered with Fine TME to explore ways to improve the operations and maintenance of the city’s sports facilities. 

Through the use of advanced technologies, BCDA said the partnership aims to position New Clark City as a leading hub for national and international sporting events.

The signing of these MOUs coincides with the state visit of Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol to the Philippines, which seeks to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

Joshua M. Bingcang, BCDA president, said their partnership with Korean experts will help New Clark City set global standards for urban development. 

“We are confident that with their expertise and technical know-how, we can further transform New Clark City into the Philippines’ model of urban development catalyzed by smart city and sustainable technologies,” Bingcang said in a statement.
