Davines is an Italian beauty brand known for its sustainability efforts and quality products

Some people already have ideas on what services or styles they want to get done when they visit the salon. Some are clueless and opt to leave it to the hands of the stylist. No matter where you are in the equation, there’s one common denominator we can all agree on—we need to get what is best for our hair and find the right products that are effective and safe for the environment.

This is precisely what the Italian haircare and beauty brand Davines stands for. Established in Parma, Italy, in 1983, this brand has been a cult favorite across the globe because of its natural ingredients and sustainability efforts. This brand has received several awards including the B Corp Certificate’s 2019 Best for the World Environment honoree and CEW UK Responsible Beauty 2023 award.

The brand’s products range from haircare to body care with sustainable packaging and offering refills for less waste and more value. Some of its best-sellers are the fortifying and OI lines.

In an effort to offer Filipinos their services, the brand has brought its Customize Your Hair Care system here in the Philippines through its partner salon, Koop Studio. The system will curate a customized hair care treatment plan by simply scanning a QR code and answering some questions about your hair types and concerns. This could guide you and the stylist on what products to use and treatments to do.

In an interview with Manila Bulletin Lifestyle, Koop Studio’s master stylist, Dimitry Galushin, shared that this feature has helped their clients to realize what services their hair truly needs instead of just pushing for the style they want to achieve without properly nourishing the scalp and the hair. With 24 combinations available, there is something tailored for everyone’s needs.

Beauty for you and the planet
On top of launching this service, the brand has also announced its partnership with Communities Organized for Resource Allocation (CORA) Philippines. CORA is a non-profit organization that was established to create sustainable programs that would help solve global issues centered on hunger, poverty, inequality, and climate change.

According to Davines, this partnership is designed to support CORA and encourage their customers to imbibe sustainable lifestyles. “The Beauty for You and the Planet campaign is showcasing Davines' dedication to sustainable beauty while supporting CORA Eco-Ikot Center initiative,” the brand told Manila Bulletin Lifestyle. “This campaign aims to recover recyclables from Davines partner salons and inspire loyal customers to adopt proper waste segregation at the source, ensuring that waste stays within the circular economy and out of the environment and oceans.”

The company might be a silent player in the beauty industry, but this is not the first time the Italian beauty brand has partnered with CORA.

In 2019,  #EndAngeredOceans program was launched. In line with Davines Global Campaign “Become an Ocean Keeper” it aimed to recover plastics sold and recycled by partner junk shops to help local communities and encourage a circular economy. The converted cash was used to buy mangrove seedlings planted around key coastal areas in the Philippines affected by climate change. During the height of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, the “Purchase with a Purpose” campaign was rolled, wherein a percentage of all Davines products purchased online were donated to CORA in support of their relief operations.

With its natural ingredients, eco-friendly packaging, and commitment to ethical practices, Davines shows that beauty and sustainability can coexist. If you are interested in embracing sustainable beauty, you can check this brand’s collection by visiting their website or working with their partner salon—Koop Studio.
