“Sarina Bolden is officially a new player for FC Como Women. The American forward, naturalized Filipino and born in 1996, joins the club by signing a contract that will bind her to the team until June 30, 2026,” the team announced on social media on Saturday, Sept. 7.

Bolden saw international success after steering the Filipinas to their first-ever victory in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup against tournament co-host New Zealand.

Shortly after the historic debut in the grandest football showpiece, Bolden found herself with the Jets where she played for one season and guided the Australian club to a semifinal finish.

“I’m excited to be a part of FC Como Women. From the moment I arrived, I felt great positive energy from the team. The players and staff have been very welcoming, and it’s clear that there is a strong sense of unity here. The passion and commitment I’ve seen make me excited to contribute and grow as a player. I can’t wait to see what we can achieve together this season,” Bolden said in the social media post.

With the 28-year-old Bolden's move to Italy, Sara Eggesvik, who recently signed with the Western United will be the lone Filipino in the Australian women's league.

Eggesvik is making huge strides in her professional career after spending the majority of it in Norway where she was born and learned to play the beautiful game of football.

Both players are expected to join the Filipinas in a couple of exciting friendly matches at home later this year.
