Sales agent killed in garage blast

CALASIAO, Pangasinan – A sales agent was killed and a maintenance crew was injured in an explosion in a garage in Sitio Calit, Barangay Banaoang, this town, on Saturday afternoon, September 9.

The fatality was identified as Cesar Arnaiz Sambas, 47, of Barangay Tebeng, Dagupan City.

Initial report said that Sambas and the injured, maintenance crew Jomar Migano Mirasol, 29, of Barangay Banaoang, were repairing a company vehicle of Great Star Laboratories in the garage using a welding machine and grinder when an explosion suddenly occurred.

Sambas died on the spot and Mirasol was taken to the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City by rescuers.

The Pangasinan Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit led by Police Capt. Edwin Sison has been asked to determine the cause of the explosion.
