Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan lighted up the newly installed three-dimensional LED wall along Nicanor Reyes Street in Morayta, Manila on Monday, June 5.
According to Lacuna-Pangan, the lighting ceremony was in partnership with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) and was part of the 125th Independence Day celebration on June 12.
"Ito ay magbibigay ng malalim na kahulugan ng ating pagka-Pilipino at pagkakaroon ng pagkakakilanlan bilang mamamayan ng bansa (This will give a deep meaning to our nationality and having an identity as a citizen of the country)," the mayor expressed.

The 3D wall features the country’s historical sites in the Philippines such as Rizal Monument in Manila, Andres Bonifacio National Monument in Caloocan, Pinaglabanan Shrine in San Juan, and Barasoain Church in Bulacan.
NHCP chairperson Dr. Emmanuel Calairo said the LED wall seeks to remind people daily about the country’s rich history and heroes who fought for freedom. He noted that the LED wall also aims to prevent the spread of misinformation.
“Ngayong gabi, nakikita natin ito lalo na rito sa karaniwang kalsada, sa Lerma, Morayta, Nicanor Reyes [kung saan] napakaraming estudyante, maraming dumadaan dito, nasasaksihan ang napakahalagang bagay na may kinalaman sa 125th Philippine Independence Nationhood (Tonight, we see this from here, especially on the common road of Lerma, Morayta, and Nicanor Reyes where many students, many passersby, witnessing important information related to the 125th Philippine Independence Nationhood),” Calairo said.
“Ito ay nagpapaigting at nagpapalalim ng ating kamalayan tungo sa ating kasaysayan. Tulad nga sinasabi ko, ang kasaysayan ang susi sa pagkakaisa at kaunlaran (It intensifies and deepens our awareness towards our history. As I say, history is the key to unity and development),” he added.
Meanwhile, the city government also launched new artworks displayed at the Manila Clock Tower Museum on Monday.
Lacuna-Pangan said the events were in conjunction with the 452nd Manila Day on June 24.
