CAAP inaugurates new departure terminal building in Borongan
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has inaugurated the New Departure Terminal building of Borongan City Airport in a move to further improve the services to airline passengers.
The improvement was completed following the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between CAAP and the Borongan City local government.
CAAP Director General Manuel Antonio L. Tamayo said the the New Departure Terminal Building is one of the maintenance and development projects undertaken by the city government for the Borongan Airport that has been turned over to CAAP.
He said the community airport, which serves the general area of  Borongan and other municipalities in Eastern Samar, opened its doors to commercial operations in December last year.
The airport had a total passenger movement of 4,022 passengers and 86 flights from December 2022 to May 2023.
"The New Departure Terminal Building intends to provide a more comfortable and efficient travel experience for the increasing number of passengers in the Borongan Airport," said Tamayo.
