Acuzar warns DHSUD officials, employees vs conspiring with housing scammers
Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar has warned all the department’s officials and employees against conspiring with scammers who are taking advantage of the government’s aggressive housing program.
In a memorandum sent to all department heads, Acuzar said he will not tolerate any form of corruption and even vowed to punish those who would be found in cahoots with scammers and other people engaged in corruption activities.
"The Department will not tolerate any form of corruption, irregularity and influence-peddling, especially amongst relatives of DHSUD officials and employees, that will undermine its vision,” said Acuzar.
"Violators will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law," he added.
Acuzar reminded all DHSUD personnel to stick to doing what is right in terms of assisting those qualified for the housing.
He also called on the public to transact only with DHSUD, its key shelter agencies, other government offices and partner-local government units, and not to private individuals or groups who are bragging about their influence to expedite and prioritize the housing program.
The construction of housing units for the flagship program, which intends to address the country’s backlog pegged at more than 6.5 million units, is expected to go full blast in the coming weeks.
