Camillian priest Father Dan Cancino, executive secretary of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines-Episcopal Commission on Health Care, urged the public to continue wearing their face mask citing its other benefits aside from protection from Covid-19.

“The face mask can serve as a barrier not only from Covid-19 but also from the ill-effects of pollution as well as from other communicable diseases like tuberculosis,” said Fr. Cancino over Radio Veritas.
“Wearing a face mask has a lot of health benefits,” the Church leader added.
Fr. Cancino said there should be heightened public awareness on the benefits of wearing a face mask to encourage the public to continue wearing one despite the ease in Covid-19 cases and restrictions.
“An information dissemination on the benefits of wearing a face mask will heighten public awareness on self-care and those of the people we come in contact with,” the priest said.
Fr. Cancino stressed the public must continue wearing a face mask despite the ease in Covid-19 incidents for their own protection and the people around them. He particularly encouraged the elderly and those with comorbidities to continue wearing a face mask.
“Let us continue to observe the minimum health standards and to get immunized whenever possible,” he said as he reminded the public to remain vigilant against the virus and other health problems.
