Marcos eyes nat'l gov't rightsizing

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has presided over a sectoral meeting to discuss the government's rightsizing mission.

Marcos called for the meeting on Tuesday, April 4, at the Malacañang Palace.

According to the Malacañang, the President and other high-ranking officials discussed the status of the National Government Rightsizing Program (NGRP) Bill in the 19th Congress from August 2022 up to March 2023.

House Bill No. 7240 or An Act Rightsizing the National Government to Improve Public Service Delivery, and Appropriating Funds Thereof was approved last month by the House of Representatives.

The NGRP is a reform mechanism primarily aimed to enhance the government’s institutional capacity in the Executive Branch to perform its mandate and provide better services while ensuring optimal and efficient use of resources.

Present during the meeting were Presidential Legislative Liaison Office (PLLO) Secretary Mark Llandro Mendoza, Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Undersecretary Wilford Will Wong, PLLO Assistant Secretary Rose Virginie Iñigo and DBM Director John Aries Macaspac.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Secretary Antonio Ernesto Lagdameo Jr. and Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil also joined the President in the meeting.
