65 ambulant vendors apprehended<br>in Baguio sent home to Visayas


BAGUIO CITY – Sixty-five ambulant vendors from Visayas who were apprehended for illegal peddling during the Panagbenga Grand Parade here on Feb. 25 have been sent home to the Visayas.

They were provided assistance by the city government through the Office of the City Social Welfare and Development Office to enable them to safely return.

OCSWD Officer Liza Bulayungan said the city provided food assistance to the vendors since their financial resources had been exhausted.

Thirty of them needed assistance to get back home, thus, coordination was made with the Department of Social Welfare and Development- Cordillera for the provision of transportation assistance to cover their bus ticket to Manila.

Parallel coordination was made with the Cebu City government for the provision of assistance to 12 residents for their transportation from Manila to Cebu City, the Bacolod LGU through their Assistance for Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) for the transportation of 18 from Manila to Bacolod City, and the CSWDO of Manila for provision of necessary assistance while waiting for their sea fare tickets.
