DPWH builds P106.15-M bridge which links communities in Aurora

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said on Thursday, Feb. 2, that it has constructed a new bridge that made travel in the town of san Luis in Aurora easier and more comfortable for local residents.

In a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, Regional Office 3 Director Roseller Tolentino said the P106.15 million worth project has provided the public with a much better mobility and easier access with the bridge linking Barangays Dibut and Dibalo via Barangay Real.

He explained that the two rural communities are now better-connected by a 90-lineal meter concrete bridge which will dramatically decrease travel time.

Tolentino noted that the bridge, which was implemented by the DPWH Aurora District Engineering Office (DEO), also included the construction of a 405-lineal-meter flood control structure and a 346.5-lineal meter approach road.

The DPWH Region 3 Director stated that the local residents used to brave an old, wooden and worn-out Real Bridge that can only cater to light vehicles such as motorcycles.

Tolentino added that other vehicles had to travel an additional 15 to 20 minutes to the barangays of Nonong and L. Pimentel Streets just to cross the river especially when the water rises during heavy rains and typhoons.

With the completed project, Tolentino said that the residents of Barangays Dibut and Dibalo now have a more reliable bridge infrastructure with an increased carrying capacity to access hubs in the municipality such as the San Luis Town Center located in Barangay Poblacion. (Chito A. Chavez)
