'Zero' casualty during New Year's Day celebration achieved in Quirino province
QUIRINO – Firecracker ban paid off, at least in the province of Quirino which recorded zero casualties in the entire Region 2 during the celebration of New Year’s Day.
The Quirino Philippine National Police said the Department of Health (DOH) had not recorded any case of firecracker-related incidents and indiscriminate firing on the eve of New Year’s Day.
The PNP said this was due to the strict implementation of the municipal ordinances, patrol operation and social media posting which was of great help in the information dissemination campaign about prohibited fireworks.
The effectiveness of Oplan Tambuli, barangay visitation and handing out flyers to the residents was also noted.
In line with the Ordinance no.2 series of 2021, the manufacture, sale and use of fireworks is prohibited, and anyone found violating the law will be penalized and liable in court.
The zero casualty had also been successful with the help of partner agencies, including Bureau of Fire Protection and barangay officials.
The regulation and control of fireworks in the province was in adherence to the PNP’s effort to have a peaceful and orderly New Year's Day celebration.
