Welcoming the Rabbit!

Angel Thoughts

Happy New Year's Day, dear readers! May we offer to the Most High this past year's joy, glory, and blessings as well as our fears, pains, and falls. He helped us stand up again and gave us the courage to help others who had their failures, too.

The coming 2023, according to the Chinese Zodiac calendar (starting on Jan. 22 ), is the year of the Water Rabbit. 2024 is my year (ahem)—the year of Dragon.

People born in the year of the Rabbit are called “Rabbits” and are believed to be vigilant, witty, quick-minded, and ingenious.  Of course, there are those who look down on rabbits and think of them solely as breeding baby rabbits and no more.

I disagree, I think rabbits are cuddly, “cute” creatures, and, yes, they tend to breed fast. We Filipinos do not yet accept them as delicious meat in place of beef or chicken. I think it's because the rabbits are so “cute” that we can't bear adding them to our protein daily menu.

The most compatible zodiac signs for Rabbits are Goats, Dogs, and Pigs.

Some famous people born in the year of the Rabbit include noted physicist Albert Einstein, basketball legend Michael Jordan, football superstars David Beckham and Lionel Messi, actors Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron, and Johnny Depp, as well as golf legend Tiger Woods.

Other things you should know about Rabbits are their lucky numbers (3, 4, and 6), lucky colors (red, pink, purple, and blue), lucky directions (east, south, and northwest), and unlucky numbers (1, 7,  and 8).

Zodiac sign forecast for 2023

Rat—While there may be some rocky times at work, there are as well opportunities for promotion and salary enhancement. Health is a topic to be carefully managed as medical bills may raise expenditures.

Ox—For safety concerns, stay away from camping, trekking, or similar pursuits.

Tiger—While overall a very good year for Tigers, be aware of people who may be wanting to take advantage of you and your finances.

Rabbit—Expect good fortune from personal endeavors, and if still single, you can look forward to a possible short romance.

Dragon—Dragons can expect financial and career progression and opportunities for travel.

Snake—Health-wise, steer clear of high-risk sports activities. Be on the lookout for mentors to help you in your efforts, as well as chances for business or educational trips.

Horse—This is a good year to build a long-term relationship, and overall health looks better this year as well.

Sheep—Spending too much time pleasing other people would be a waste, as it will rarely bear fruit.

Monkey—It is possible to be stuck career-wise with little to no prospects of change or advancement. It is best to stick it out and be patient with those around you.

Rooster—Financially 2023 can be a challenge to the Rooster. It is also a lukewarm year as far as affairs of the heart are concerned.

Dog—This is a good year to form solid lasting relationships. Use your money wisely and your financial stability will not be in danger.  Stressors, however, will abound.

Pig—2023 looks to be a healthy year, but still best to stay on top of your health choices.

And that, dear readers, are just some of the things to keep an eye out for in 2023. Other things we wish and hope for would be more economic stability for everyone, lower prices of goods, and a world where we can all breathe easily with no more masks.

Happy New Year to all!
