TACLOBAN CITY -- At least four firecracker-related injuries have been logged in Eastern Visayas since Dec. 21.
The first case was reported on Dec. 29 when a 42-year-old woman from Tanauan, Leyte sustained injuries due to a rocket (kwitis).
In Zumarraga, Samar, a 10-year-old boy was injured on Dec. 30 due to a handmade bamboo cannon called "lantaka."
In Hilongos, Leyte, a 13-year-old girl had burns on New Year's Eve from a still undetermined firecracker.
A 45-year-old man from Catbalogan City, Samar lost a finger when the firecracker he was lighting exploded on New Year's Eve.
The Department of Health (DOH) will continue monitoring firecracker-related injuries until Jan. 6 in Eastern Visayas.
