Akari pulled off a shocker of a reversal by upending Chery Tiggo, 16-25, 25-22, 19-25, 25-21, 15-11, behind former Crossover ace Dindin Manabat’s stellar play and a gutsy stand from the rest of the Chargers in the Premier Volleyball League All Filipino Conference at the Filoil Ecooil Centre in San Juan City Saturday night, March 4.

Manabat fired back-to-back kills to defuse the Crossovers’ threat at 10-11 in the decider then after Mylene Paat blasted in her own kill to keep the Crossovers in the hunt, EJ Laure slammed her own attack into the net, enabling the Chargers to escape with the win.

Manabat finished with 26 points, including 24 on attacks, as the Chargers picked up their second win against four losses to join the Cignal HD Spikers at seventh.

Though they will still face the Petro Gazz Angels and the Creamline Cool Smashers before wrapping up their elims stint, the Chargers proved they can measure up with the best of the lot.

The loss dropped Chery Tiggo to fifth at 3-3, jeopardizing its semis bid.
