Another suspect in the alleged hazing death of Adamson University student John Matthew Salilig underwent inquest proceedings on Saturday, March 4.
Biñan City Police Station (CPS) chief Lt. Col. Virgilio M. Jopia told the Manila Bulletin in a phone interview that the suspect, Daniel de los Reyes Perry, is now officially facing charges for violating the anti-hazing law.
On March 2, Perry voluntarily appeared before the office of Cavite Gov. Jonvic C. Remulla, who coordinated his surrender with Cavite Police Provincial Office Director Col. Christopher F. Olazo.
Remulla mentioned in a media interview that the suspect allegedly participated in burying Salilig and that his guilt and fear for his safety pushed him to approach the governor’s office.
Six suspects allegedly involved in the hazing case have earlier undergone inquest proceedings on March 2.
Aside from the seven suspects, Jopia said the police are still investigating 10 more persons of interest in the case.
