Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may affect some areas in Luzon and Visayas due to the shear line and northeast monsoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday, March 1.
Eastern Visayas, Sorsogon, and Masbate will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the shear line—the boundary between cold air from the northeast monsoon and warm air from the easterlies.
Cloudy and rainy weather may also prevail in the Cagayan Valley, the rest of Bicol Region, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Aurora, Quezon, Marinduque, and Oriental Mindoro because of the northeast monsoon, locally called “amihan.”
PAGASA warned those in areas affected by the shear line and amihan to remain alert because of the threat of flooding or landslides caused by moderate to occasional heavy rains.
Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon may experience partly cloudy to cloudy weather with light amihan rains.
The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
However, the public is warned against possible flooding or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
