Man arrested for online estafa in Tarlac


CAMP Gen. Francisco S. Macabulos, Tarlac City – Police arrested a 45-year-old man for online estafa in an entrapment operation in Barangay Estrada, Capas, Tarlac, on Thursday, Feb. 2.

Lt. Col. Neil Rainier Mercado, Capas chief of police, said the suspect, of San Agustin, Concepcion, Capas, allegedly created a Facebook dummy account using the name and picture of a victim. The suspect sent a message to his other victim asking P4,000.

However, the two victims realized they were scammed and filed a complaint with the Capas police. Police set up a sting operation and arrested the suspect.

Suspect is detained at the Capas police station. A case for violating Republic Act 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012) will be filed against the suspect.
