Gigamon clinches PLDT deal

American tech vendor Gigamon has clinched the deal to provide solutions for securing PLDT Inc.'s 71 million subscribers.

“Gigamon technology is playing an important role in keeping our community protected," said Angel Redoble, chief information security officer (CISO) for the PLDT Group and subsidiary Smart Communications Inc.

Gigamon, which calls itself the leading deep observability company, serves more than 4,000 customers worldwide, including over 80 percent of Fortune 100 enterprises.

Observability involves software processes that separate critical information from routine ones.

Gigamon harnesses network-level intelligence to assure security and compliance governance, speed root-cause analysis of performance bottlenecks, and lower operational overhead associated with managing hybrid and multi-cloud IT infrastructure.

On top of PLDT's 71 million users, the telco needs to monitor 400,000 assets scattered across the Philippines and beyond, as well as comply with requirements for uninterrupted and secure services.

“Having deep observability into our infrastructure has always been the foundation of our cybersecurity strategy," Redoble pointed out.

"We cannot protect something that is not visible. We can’t respond if we don’t know what’s going on across our infrastructure or what could be lurking in our network.”

Seeing into their infrastructure and network traffic enables the telco to secure its users and comply with requirements while sustaining revenue growth, he underscored.

“Visibility and security are synonymous and are directly tied to our revenue growth," Redoble stressed.

“While we considered other solutions, we found Gigamon most suitable to our needs," he concluded.
