P8-M shabu seized in Central Visayas


CEBU CITY – Police seized suspected shabu worth at least P8 million from six persons arrested in buy-bust operations in Central Visayas on Sunday, Jan. 29.

In Mandaue City, police recovered at least 600 grams of shabu valued at P4,080,000 from Jeremie Ragasajo Sun, 40. The Intelligence Unit and Drug Enforcement Unit of the Mandaue City Police Office cornered Sun in Barangay Subangdaku.

In Compostela town, Cebu, an ex-convict was arrested with packs of shabu worth P357,000.

Police identified the suspect as Jason Labostro Matugas, a 33-year-old resident of Barangay Cogon, Tuburan town, Cebu.

Police said Matugas is part of the Top 10 regional priority target of the police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas.

A 52-year-old woman yielded packs of shabu valued at P1,020,000 when she was arrested by operatives of Station 9 of the Cebu City Police Office here. Police said Imelda San Pedro Merecidio was listed as a high-value individual.

An 18-year-old man, Mharjervin Orlanda Abellana, was arrested with 216 grams of shabu worth P1,468,000 in Barangay Duljo Fatima here.

Another 175 grams of shabu valued at P1.1 million were seized from Bryan Bantilan Pepito, 43, who was arrested in Barangay Cotcot, Liloan town, Cebu.

In Dumaguete City, police collared Bergen Aguilar Catadman Aguilar, 35, who was caught with 07 grams of shabu worth P727,000.

Meanwhile, the Top 8 most wanted person in Central Visayas was arrested in Negros Oriental.

The suspect Carlos Esparcia Solano had two arrest warrants for murder and illegal possession of firearms.

"This one-day accomplishment demonstrates the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas’ (PRO-7) huge progress in innovating strategies in the pursuit of lawless criminals and keeping our community safe,” said Brig. Gen. Jerry Bearis, chief of the PRO-7.
