TACLOBAN CITY – Several schools in Eastern Visayas suspended the National Achievement Test (NAT) due to bad weather brought about by the shear line affecting Visayas on Monday, Jan. 30.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council issued a red rainfall warning in Eastern Samar, Samar, Leyte, and Southern Leyte at 7:50 a.m.
Classes and work on all levels were suspended in this city while the NAT administered by the Department of Education was rescheduled from Jan. 31 to Feb. 1.
NAT was also suspended in the entire Samar province. Work and classes have been cancelled in Hinabangan town through an executive order while the rest suspended their classes due to the red rainfall warning.
Biliran province implemented a half-day suspension of classes, while Leyte province, including Ormoc City, suspended classes except for Baybay City. However, their NAT pushed through.
In Eastern Samar, Borongan City and Jipapad town suspended their classes while some areas in Llorente District, Taft, Oras West, and Dolores 1 have cancelled classes.
Maasin City in Southern Leyte also suspended classes but their NAT pushed through. Classes on all levels were suspended in Northern Samar province.
