ILOILO CITY – The Police Regional Office 6 arrested 525 persons in a week-long anti-crime campaign in Western Visayas.
“Our accomplishments are testament of all our efforts to combat the menace of illegal drugs and other forms of criminality that disrupt the peace and order situation in Western Visayas,” said Brig. Gen. Leo Francisco, PRO-6 director.
Francisco said 241 wanted persons were nabbed under “Manhunt Charlie,” 167 for illegal gambling, 103 for illegal drugs, and 14 for illegal possession of firearms from Jan. 23 to 29 in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Negros Occidental and the highly urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod.
Forty-five fugitives were classified as most wanted persons (MWPs) while 196 were other wanted persons (OWPs).
Out of the 103 suspects arrested in 54 operations in the campaign against illegal drugs, 32 were apprehended in a drug den in Barangay Bakhaw in Iloilo City last week.
