Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval visited and sent aid to the families who were affected by the fire that burned two houses in Barangay Muzon, Malabon City on Saturday, Jan. 28.
“Nagpaabot po tayo ng ating paunang tulong para sa mga apektado ng sunog sa Barangay Muzon. Ang tala po ng mga naapektuhan nating kababayan doon ay 3 families at 11 individuals (We provided initial assistance to those affected by the fire in Barangay Muzon. We listed 3 families and 11 individuals who were affected by the fire),” Sandoval said in a Facebook post.
The City Social Welfare and Development Department distributed family food packs, mineral water, hygiene kits that includes toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, and bath soap, and sleeping kits to the fire victims.
The Bureau of Fire Protection said the fire on Kagitingan Street, Brgy. Muzon on Saturday was raised to first alarm at around 10:17 a.m.
It was declared under control at 10:23 a.m., and was extinguished at around 10:41 a.m.
The Malabon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said the incident was allegedly caused by a faulty electrical wiring.
“Asahan niyo po na hindi namin kayo pababayaan sa gitna ng insidente na ito. Tuloy-tuloy po ang ating pagpapaabot ng tulong para sa inyong recovery. Mag-iingat po tayong lahat ("Expect that we will not abandon you in the middle of this incident. We will continue to extend help for your recovery. Stay safe everyone),“ the mayor said.
