Guests were delighted to bring home one of Ilocos' agricultural produce
The prices of onions have been going up since last year, and it seems to be staying that way—for the meantime. This is why the groom Jayson Saplala and his bride Lorellei Monette Savedra thought of the idea to give onions to their guests at their wedding held at Aquila Crystal Palace Tagaytay last Jan. 24, 2023.

"The couple had a meeting with our head planner, Miss Ruffa, and they wanted to share their produce to their guests as the bride's family business is onions in Ilocos Sur," Aldrik Gohel, senior wedding coordinator of Moments by Ruffa 2 tells Manila Bulletin Lifestyle. "They all decided to have a full setup where guests can actually pick and place them in small bayongs. Giving them onions is more usefuul than giving out succulent plants, which is the usual wedding favors."

Instead of giving them away at the reception, they decided to give them away after the wedding ceremony. "They wanted to personally give these to their guests before it gets busy at the reception," adds Gohel.
Almost 200 kilos were given away that day, and everything was transported via vans so it wasn't much a challenge to bring that much onions to the venue.
