The development was relayed by Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) Director General Rowel Barba when he visited Gov. Aris Aumentado at the Provincial Capitol in Tagbilaran City on Saturday, Jan. 21.

Aumentado said hosting the AWGIPC meeting will give the province a big tourism boost.

“This is a big opportunity for us to showcase the best of Bohol to our visitors from the ASEAN region, European Union, Japan, South Korea, United Kingdom, and the World Intellectual Property Organization,” said Aumentado.

The governor said preparations are under way to ensure Bohol’s successful hosting of the international event.

The Philippines, through IPOPHL, assumed ASEAN AWGIPC on April last year. AWGIPC is the group leading the bloc to fulfill its 2025 goal of driving economic prosperity in the region through intellectual property (IP).
