The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said that the repair of the bridge expansion joint of the inner lane of C-5 Ortigas Flyover and C-5 Pasig Boulevard Flyover will start on Jan. 21 to Feb. 21 after it already completed fixing the first lane of its southbound portions.

DPWH Metro Manila First District Engineer Medel F. Chua said the his office undertook chipping works at the 3.5-meter first lane of the southbound portions of the two flyovers from Dec. 2 to Jan. 15 which included the installation of new bridge expansion joints on identified spans that are now passable to all types of vehicles.

Chua said that similar repair works will be conducted to the four meters of the inner lane of the two flyovers to complete the rehabilitation project.

DPWH-National Capital Region (NCR) Director Loreta Malaluan told the public to expect heavier traffic in the area during the construction and cement curing periods.

She advised motorists with wide vehicles to use the service roads as alternative routes during the 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. construction activities since only 3.5 meters of roadway are passable on the outer lane.

“The project will replace the old bridge expansion joints, allowing more stability to the structural integrity of the bridges,’’ the DPWH-NCR stated.
