Celebrate Chinese New Year at Lucky Chinatown with live concerts, cultural performances, and auspicious rituals

Lucky Chinatown in Manila welcomes a bigger and more prosperous Chinese New Year celebration for the year 2023, highlighted by vibrant live concerts, cultural performances and auspicious rituals for the community.

Revelers can hop right into the Year of the Rabbit with much-anticipated events at Lucky Chinatown, as they go all out with their biggest celebration in two years.

The series of events are open to everyone, including the Chinese New Year Countdown live concert featuring Jason Dhakal, Ace Banzuelo, Janine Teñoso, Darren, and Shanti Dope on Jan. 21. Then on Jan. 22, Chinese New Year Day, guests can enjoy a whole day of festivities and a live concert from pop-rock band Nobita.

Guests can begin the revelry by watching a visual feast of outstanding performances and colorful traditions from our Chinese community partners in A Feast of Folk Spring Festival on Jan. 21, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

In Chinese Roving Entertainment, guests can experience Chinese traditions and heritage through a Chinese opera, stilt walker show, and other spectacles that will run on Jan. 21 and 22.

Lucky Chinatown’s New Year celebration wouldn’t be complete without a series of amazing fireworks to welcome the brand new year. Witness Sparkles of Spring on Jan. 21 and 22 and delight in good times with the whole community.

Guests can discover their luck and fate this Year of the Rabbit through the help of Feng Shui Expert Johnson Chua in Written in the Stars. They can ask questions in this interactive Chinese zodiac session on Jan. 22 at 4 p.m.

Have an auspicious New Year and celebrate with authentic Chinese treats and blockbuster movies at the Chinese Food and Film Festival from Jan. 20 to 22. To participate, moviegoers can walk in and register at the ticket counters to get their free cinema passes. As an added treat, the first 60 guests per screening will get a free popcorn.

Until Jan. 22, mall-goers can shop for their Chinese New Year treats and lucky items. The Lucky Market has various lucky items to attract abundance for the coming New Year; and Meisic Street Feast offers Asian favorites in an outdoor food fair. Visit the Modern Tao Ke Fair from Jan. 19 to 22, and have a special feast featuring authentic Chinese selections made by MSMEs, in partnership with Chinoy TV.

Don’t miss the fun of the Chinatown Parade, a colorful float parade in partnership with the City of Manila and Manila Chinatown Development Council on Jan. 22 at 3 pm.

Catch the Prosperity Dance, a Dragon and Lion Dance performance around the mall, for a more flourishing year. Prosperity Dance will take place on Jan. 22 starting at 9 a.m.

On Feb. 5, guests can go on a visual treat in the Lantern Festival, featuring beautiful Chinese lanterns painted by students from Hope Christian School, with special support from the Chinese Filipino Business Club (CFBCI).
