DOH records 2,934 new Covid-19 cases in the past week


The Department of Health (DOH) recorded on Monday, Jan. 16, a total of 2,934 new Covid-19 cases during the past week.

In its weekly case bulletin, DOST said that the daily average cases are currently at 419 which is 6 percent lower than the cases on Jan. 2 to Jan. 8.

DOH also recorded one case tagged under severe and critical cases which is 0.04 percent of new cases. Currently, there are 567 severe and critical admissions which is 11.1 percent of total Covid-19 admissions.

On the other hand, 402 out of 2,340 or 17.2 percent of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds are being used, while 3,917 out of 19,607 or 20.0 percent of non-ICU beds are being utilized.

Meanwhile, DOH also verified 116 deaths more deaths due to Covid-19 during the past week. It mentioned that 14 deaths occurred on Jan. 2 to Jan. 15.

Of the 116 deaths, 15 occurred in January 2023, 37 in December 2022, six in November 2022, three in October 2022, 13 in September 2022, 17 in August 2022, two in February 2022, three in January 2022, two in November 2021, four in October 2021, two in September 2021, five in August 2021, three in July 2021, one in June 2021, two in April 2021, and one in December 2020.

In terms of Covid-19 vaccination, a total of 73,803,831 individuals have been fully vaccinated while 21,241,707 have received boosters or additional doses.
