BACOLOD CITY – A couple died after their motorcycle collided with an empty fuel tanker truck in Bangga Cory, Circumferential Road, Barangay Taculing here on Friday the 13th.

The victims were identified as Jim Carl Macaya, 26, of Barangay Singcang-Airport here, and Angelu Magdaraog, 20, a college student, of Barangay Handumanan, this city.

Capt. Dax Santillan, head of Police Station 6, citing witnesses, said Macaya overtook and crashed when the truck executed a right turn.

The truck driver probably failed to notice the motorcycle when he turned to the right, Santillan added.

Santillan said that Macaya died on the spot while Magdaraog passed away at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) in this city a few hours later.

The truck driver was released on Saturday morning, Jan. 14, after the lapse of the 18-hour reglementary detention, according to Santillan.

The family of the victims and truck driver met on Saturday for an initial settlement, the Police Station 6 commander added.
