WATCH: BTS at Coco Martin's 'Batang Quiapo'

Actor-director Coco Martin and the staff of "FPJ’s Batang Quiapo" were among those who joined the celebration of the Feast of the Black Nazarene recently.

Despite the absence of the traditional “Traslacion,” “Pahalik” and for the third consecutive time still due to the pandemic, the occasion was celebrated by the “Pagpupugay” and the “Walk of Faith.”

Coinciding with the observance, Coco and his crew also started shooting their new series, "FPJ’s Batang Quiapo."

As seen in the behind-the-scenes videos uploaded on YouTube, the team was at the area around 4 in the morning and then finished at the same time in the afternoon.

"Gumising kami ng maaga para talaga ma-cover namin at masaksihan talaga namin yung tunay na nangyayari ngayon sa fiesta ng Quiapo," said Coco in the video.

Directors Malu Sevilla, Vince Gaite, and Kevin de Vela also shared their thoughts about their experience covering the celebration live.

Note that Coco's upcoming show is one of the lineups of Kapamilya programs for 2023.

There, he'll be sharing the screen with Fernando Poe Jr.'s daughter, Lovi Poe.

According to the group, besides the project being a tribute to the legacy of National Artist for Film Fernando Poe Jr., who starred in the original 1986 film, it will also help boost a lofty ensemble cast and very Pinoy elements that will make for a pleasurable viewing experience.

The original action-comedy movie “Batang Quiapo” is about Manila’s pickpocket kingpin Baldo (FPJ), who is determined to turn a new leaf after spending time in prison. He meets a young female thief named Maria (Maricel Soriano) asking him to take her as an apprentice, but instead, he tries to put her on the right path.
