MMDA to deploy 730 personnel in Manila for Feast of Black Nazarene


The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will be deploying 730 of its personnel to assist in traffic management and road clearing operations for the Feast of the Black Nazarene on Jan. 9.

In a statement, the MMDA said the deployment will start on Jan. 6, adding that it will also mark the start of the aggressive road clearing operations especially on the roads that will be used as routes during the procession,

It said those in charge in the road clearing are from the Sidewalk Clearing Operations Group (SCOG) while those from the Western Traffic Enforcement (WTED) will assist in traffic management.

On the other hand, streetsweepers from the Metro Parkways Clearing Group (MPCG) will be deployed to maintain cleanliness along the procession routes.

The MMDA said it will also set up 25 portalets in strategic areas for use of the devotees.

It added that additional personnel from the Road Emergency Group (REG) were tasked to put on standby medical and other emergency response teams while personnel from the Metrobase will be in charge of monitoring through the CCTV system.
