Stephan Schrock is trading his national team jersey to focus on his personal life and possibly a new role for the Philippine Azkals.

The 36-year-old Schrock is now looking at possible options for him to remain part of local football.

The Filipino-German, who put his pride for the flag in the past 11 years, played his final match for the country where they conceded two goals to Indonesia in the AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022 last Jan. 2.

For the last time though, the Philippines had something to show for itself after Schrock’s superb passing that Sebastian Rasmussen converted into a goal late in the game.

“Yeah. Unlike others that retired, I’d love to stay, I know it’s difficult. I know it’s not the easiest job. Coach probably can tell you more about that. But I’d love to be involved, I’d love to whenever it is, in any , I’m making myself available. There have been talks already, things are being set up that could get me getting in the way to stay in the Philippines, stay in national team football, and after this game, next week we will assess some more things and prepare for the future,” Schrock said.

For better or for worse, Schrock has stayed committed and brought what he could to the table for over a decade.

His stint in the national team would be worth looking at for the development of the current pool.
