Vice President Sara Duterte paid her last respects to former president Fidel V. Ramos, whom she remembered as the “most disciplined and mission accomplished“ chief executive.

Duterte visited the wake of Ramos at the Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig City on Thursday, Aug. 8, the last day of public viewing.

Ramos, the Philippines’ 12th president, died last July 31 at the age of 94. He will be accorded a state funeral at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on Aug. 9.

The Vice President shared photos of her visit to Ramos’ wake on her official Facebook page.

“Dinalaw natin ngayong hapon ang burol ni (We visited this afternoon the wake of) former President Fidel V. Ramos at ipinaabot ang ating pakikiramay sa kanyang pamilya (and we conveyed our condolences to his family),” she said in the post.

Duterte added Ramos’ service to the nation will not be forgotten.

“Hindi namin malilimutan bilang mga Pilipino ang pagsisikap ni FVR upang maiahon ang antas ng ekonomiya ng ating bansa at magkaroon ng kapayapaan sa Mindanao at buong Pilipinas (We will not forget as Filipinos the efforts of FVR to raise the economic level of our country and achieve

peace in Mindanao and the entire Philippines).”

In the condolence book, she wrote that Ramos will “always be remembered as the most disciplined and mission accomplished President.”

Ramos’ cremated remains will be accorded a burial ceremony before being interred at “Section A Presidents of the Republic of the Philippines” between former presidents Ferdinand Marcos Sr. and Elpidio Quirino at the Heroes Cemetery.

The burial ceremony for the decorated soldier and the country’s only career military officer with the rank of a five-star general will be composed of a 21-gun salute, turnover of the Philippine flag to the Ramos family, lowering of the urn, playing of Ramos’ favorite song, and flower offering.
