SPD deploys 923 cops to secure 216 voting centers

Southern Police District (SPF) Director Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg announced that a total of 923 policemen will be deployed to the 216 voting centers in the southern part of Metro Manila to ensure the safety of the voting public and election officials during the May 9 national and local elections.

Macaraeg said that aside from ensuring the safety of the voting public and election officials, the policemen deployed will also strictly enforce the minimum health protocols in all polling centers.

He said the 923 policemen will be coming from the SPD, seven police stations, and the District Mobile Force Battalion (DMFB).

Macaraeg said the SPD is ready for the May 9 election and has established plans and strategies in ensuring peace and order by maximizing its efforts in anti-criminality and election-related incidents.

He added that the SPD is also doubling its security efforts to prevent incidents that may affect the conduct of peaceful elections.

He reminded SPD personnel to always be vigilant, particularly against vote buying and other illegal activities.

Macaraeg urged the uniformed personnel to uphold their pledge of non-partisan politics.
