CAMP OLA, Albay - A 63-year-old grandfather was arrested by the police on Wednesday, March 2, for 1,487 counts of rape in Catanduanes province.
Maj. Malu Calubaquib, Police Regional Office 5 (PRO-5) spokesperson, said the suspect, identified as alias "Ai," 63, was arrested by operatives of Catanduanes (CIDG-PFU), Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU), and Catanduanes 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (Cat2nd PMFC) in Caramoran town.

A warrant of arrest was issued by Genie G. Gapas-Agbada, Presiding Judge, Regional Trial Court, Branch 42, of Virac, Catanduanes for 900 counts of statutory rape, 382 counts of rape and another 150 counts of statutory rape under criminal case numbers from 9609 to 9758 and 55 counts of rape with criminal case numbers 9759 to 9813.
The suspect is considered as the region's most wanted person.
Ai has also reportedly raped his own granddaughter when she was 8-13 years old.
Calubaquib said that the cousin of Ai's granddaughter was also raped by him since she was 9 years old.
There was no recommended bail for the 1,487 total counts of rape, according to Calubaquib.
The victims are now under the care of a safe haven in Catanduanes.
The suspect is now under the custody of Caramoran Municipal Police Station.
