Biazon, Simundac top election survey for mayor, vice mayor in Muntinlupa

Ruffy Biazon and running mate Artemio Simundac topped a survey for mayor and vice mayor in Muntinlupa, respectively.

Polling firm Publicus Asia released on March 2 its Pahayag NCR Election Tracker Survey for mayor and vice mayor in the 17 local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila.

The survey, an independent and non-commissioned poll conducted by Publicus Asia, was held from Feb. 18 to 24 among 1,625 respondents who are registered voters and residing in Metro Manila. The survey had a 10 percent margin of error.

Of the 1,625 respondents, 100 were surveyed each in Muntinlupa and 14 other NCR LGUs while 50 were polled in Pateros and 75 in San Juan.

Based on the survey results in Muntinlupa, Biazon, who is running for mayor under the One Muntinlupa party, took first place with 55 percent.

Red Mariñas of the People’s Reform Party (PRP) took second place with 16 percent followed by independent candidate Nelson Benjamin with five percent. The undecided voters were at 23 percent while those who answered “none” was one percent.

Based on the results, the gap between Biazon and Mariñas is 39 percentage points.

Biazon is aiming to replace incumbent Mayor Jaime Fresnedi, who is now in his third and last term as mayor. Fresnedi is running for congressman in the lone district of Muntinlupa.

For vice mayor, incumbent Simundac of One Muntinlupa grabbed first place with 39 percent while rival Oyo Boy Dioko placed second with 29 percent. The “undecided” was 30 percent while “none” was 2 percent.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) set the national and local elections on May 9.
