Shear line, trough of LPA to bring scattered rains over several parts of PH

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected over several parts of the country due to the prevalence of shear line and a low pressure area (LPA) outside the country's area of responsibility, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday, Feb. 2.
The shear line, or the convergence of warm and cold winds, may prevail over Bicol Region, Mimaropa, Aklan, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and Samar.
Meanwhile, the trough or extension of an LPA may affect Davao Region, Surigao del Sur, Sarangani, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.
Weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said the LPA is not expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility but its advancing clouds may bring rains over some parts of Mindanao.
PAGASA warned those in areas affected by the shear line and trough of LPA to remain vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides due to the occurrence of moderate to at times heavy rains.
In Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains may prevail due to the northeast monsoon or "amihan."
The rest of Visayas and Mindanao may also have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers because of localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA warned that flash floods or landslides may sometimes occur during severe thunderstorms.
