PCG deploys personnel to NAIA to assist OFWs returning to their provinces

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has deployed a number of its personnel at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City to assist thousands of thousands of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who continue to return to their home provinces.

The deployment was part of the government program to facilitate the return of the OFWs following the decision to ease the restriction for fully vaccinated individuals who would travel back to their homes.

A total of 52 Coast Guard personnel manned the airport as they assisted the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in managing 2,879 OFWs for their domestic flights to Visayas and Mindanao, according to PCG spokesperson Commodore Armando A. Balilo.

“That is what the program is all about, to assist and provide all the support our OFWs need, the Coast Guard is always available to help,” said PCG spokesperson CG Commodore Armando A. Balilo on Wednesday, Feb. 2, in a telephone interview with Manila Bulletin.

Since Tuesday, thousands of passengers continue to arrive at the NAIA Terminal 2 after the national government lifted the mandatory quarantine to all passengers if they are fully vaccinated.

Some of the OFWs came from quarantine while others have just arrived the country.
