P18-M worth of relief assistance delivered to flood-hit areas — DSWD

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and concerned local government units have already provided at least P18 million worth of food and non-food items as resource augmentation to areas affected by widespread flooding caused by rains from the shear line—a boundary line where cold and warm air meet.

Based on the report of the DSWD’s Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center, as of Dec. 28, P18 million worth of assistance was already distributed to the affected areas in Bicol, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, Soccsksargen, Caraga.

The shear line has affected 117,321 families or 470,261 individuals.

There are 22,292 families, or 91,874 persons, currently staying in 328 evacuation centers, while 19,449 families, or 86,690 individuals, are staying with relatives.

DSWD has over P1.24-billion worth of relief resources, comprising P100 million standby funds or quick response fund and P1.14-billion worth of stockpiles that are readily available for distribution
