QC gov’t, BFP ink agreement to build 10 new fire substations

The Quezon City government and the Bureau of Fire Protection-Quezon City Fire District (BFP- QCFD) signed on Monday, Dec. 19, a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the establishment of fire substations in 10 barangays in the city.

The fire substations will be built in barangays Socorro, Bagong Lipunan ng Crame, Pasong Tamo, Sauyo, Payatas, Manresa, Old Balara, Kaunlaran, Tandang Sora and Pinyahan.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte led the MOA signing along with QCFD Deputy District Fire Director Supt. Dennis Molo, who represented QCFD Fire director Fire Senior Supt. Gary Alto; chairmen of the 10 barangays, and city councilors during the flag ceremony at the Quezon City Hall on Monday.

Alto told Manila Bulletin that the fire substations will strategically be built in the chosen barangays to shorten the QCFD’s response time to fire incidents and to be able to comply with the BFP’s seven-minute response period.

Molo said the new substations will enable the QCFD and the city government to best serve their constituents from the damaging effects of fire and other untoward incidents.

“The activation of the 10 substations showcases the collaboration between the concerned barangays and the Quezon City Fire District, where resources coming from the local government of Quezon City under the leadership of the honorable Mayor Joy Belmonte, are maximized to meet the demands of our progressive city,” Molo said.
