P1.4-M marijuana seized in Negros

BACOLOD CITY – Police seized 300 marijuana plants and seedlings valued at P1.4 million from a suspected cultivator in a buy-bust operation in Purok 5, Barangay 2 Poblacion, Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental on Dec. 5.

Police identified the suspect as Bryden Desierto, 30, of Barangay 2 Poblacion.

Capt. Ramel Bustamante, Hinoba-an police chief, said Desierto was placed under surveillance after they received information from arrested individuals that he was their supplier of marijuana.

A buy-bust operation was conducted and marijuana plants were found growing in plastic pots at the back of his house.

Desierto told police that he has many marijuana plants at home because he has been using them.

Suspect faces charges for sale of dangerous drugs and cultivation or culture of plants classified as dangerous drugs, according to Bustamante.
